Working Land refers to two facets of rural landscape: the idea of working the land as a vocation and as a description of productive ground. My family tree includes immigrant ancestors who made a living from working the soil and some of their descendants who carry on this work to the present day. That personal connection to working land inspired the project.

Honer farm , January 2, 2016: Barbara grew up on the Honer farm, which was homesteaded by her great-grandparents Louis and Barbara Honer. On this map she included landmarks and notable events from her early years, experienced while doing the important work of childhood. Attachment to the place where you were raised is strong, making the prospect of losing it especially poignant.
