Working Land refers to two facets of rural landscape: the idea of working the land as a vocation and as a description of productive ground. My family tree includes immigrant ancestors who made a living from working the soil and some of their descendants who carry on this work to the present day. That personal connection to working land inspired the project.

Rocky's Bait, June 4, 2015: I went to photograph at Rocky’s during their busy season, so I didn’t know if I would find Rocky himself available nearby for a portrait, or if he would want to interrupt his work, which includes livestock, crops and cutting firewood as well as the bait business. Kathy phoned him; he was close to home and willing to be photographed— and not a bit camera-shy.
