Working Land refers to two facets of rural landscape: the idea of working the land as a vocation and as a description of productive ground. My family tree includes immigrant ancestors who made a living from working the soil and some of their descendants who carry on this work to the present day. That personal connection to working land inspired the project.

Anderson farm, October 10, 2015: Each apple variety has its own habits and best cultivation methods. The Haralred trees at the Anderson farm still had their apples after most of the others were harvested, since these apples taste better after an autumn cold snap. There is always more than first meets the eye in other people’s work; I enjoy hearing some of these subtle details.
